Join the Dayton Microcomputer Association and Microsoft® on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at 7:30PM, and discover how to experience more of the photos, music, television, movies, and games you want in your home with Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005, and how to keep your PC safe and secure with Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 2.
Dayton's own Kevin Unangst (lead Product Manager) will be the guest presenter. Long a favorite with user groups... be ready to be caught up in his enthusiasm and depth of knowledge about the MS product line. Bring your challenging questions... if he can't answer them... he will find the answer. Longtime members will remember Kevin from his service to the local user groups and Computerfest® over the years. Those new to one of his presentations will not soon forget it.
Microsoft® Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005 is making it easier to experience the broad range of digital entertainment including TV, music, photos, music and games. When connected to a home network, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 can become a hub for entertainment, providing you with access through connected devices in any room in the home, or through portable players on the go. Best of all, the experience is enabled by Windows, making it easier and more familiar.
Kevin will be showcasing the latest consumer operating system - Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, as well as some of the newest consumer electronics that work with Windows XP and XP Media Center Edition - including Portable Media Center, Media Center Extenders, and some of the hottest new digital music players.
Kevin Unangst is Director of Product Management for Microsoft's Windows Client division. His group is responsible for Windows XP (including Service Pack 2), Windows XP Media Center Edition, the Windows Media Center Extender devices, Windows Gaming technologies, and related products and services.
Before leading Windows XP product marketing, Kevin was responsible for the Windows Media technologies, including the Windows Media Player and Movie Maker, the Windows Media audio/video compression features, the Plus! line of products, and digital media technology for consumer electronics.
Prior to that, Mr. Unangst was part of the Microsoft Internet Explorer team from its inception through Internet Explorer 5, and he led the product planning team for multimedia features of Windows, including interactive TV technologies and the Windows Media Player. Unangst began his nearly fifteen-year tenure at Microsoft as a systems engineer before moving to Microsoft.s headquarters Redmond. WA in 1995 to join the Windows 95 team.
A "techie" at heart, Unangst holds Microsoft Certified Professional credentials and has implemented customer solutions incorporating the Windows® client and server operating systems, Microsoft Exchange Server, Novell NetWare, the Microsoft Visual Basic® programming system, and UNIX. His writing credits include technical contributor to the Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows Resource Kits, published by Microsoft Press.
Unangst attended Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. He previously held a variety of consulting, sales and management positions within the computer and technology industry. He is not just a visitor to DMA. He is a member too (one of only two lifetime DMA members.)
Please join us Tuesday night, January 25, 2005 for this free presentation at the University of Dayton. Go to O'Leary Auditorium in Miriam Hall. We'll begin at 7:30 p.m. Learn how you can have more fun, learn and explore, keep in touch, and be more productive — all with your PC. Plus, we'll talk about how you can keep your PC safe and secure with Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 2. And, of course, there will be cool prizes for the lucky few. See you there! Bring a friend.
