Take the Microsoft Challenge

by Bob Kwater, Editor The DataBus

Well folks you have longed for it for a number of years... every time you had problems with either the installation of new software or got the "blue screen of death" ...now is your chance to question... to challenge.. and yes even to vent. Two of our friends from Microsoft will be at the next DMA general meeting to meet with you the user group public.

While George Ewing and I were at one of the Microsoft Events put on every couple months at the Regal Cinemas in Beavercreek, we met up with Matt and Bill. George suggested that they come out to DMA again this year (Microsoft was just at a general meeting with Kevin Unangst, Director of Product Management for Windows Client Division in February.) They agreed and thought that something a little different might be in order for DMA. Topics were bantered about and finally as everyone thought that the most times what happens at the end of a presentation was the best part of the evening... so an open Q/A session has been planned.

Matt and Bill have both presented to user groups in the past. Bill was here in 2003 talking about the Tablet PC and other mobile devices and Matt has spoken on many technical issues over the years.

Matt HesterMatt Hester is a TechNet Presenter on the Microsoft Seminar Sales Team (SST). Prior to joining the SST Matt was a Messaging and Collaboration Technology Specialist. Matt assisted customers in understanding the technical and business value of a Microsoft messaging infrastructure.

Tech Net He has several years experience with Microsoft core infrastructures products (Windows, Active Directory, Exchange etc.) and is a Microsoft Exchange Server Insider. Prior to joining Microsoft, Matt was an MCT (Microsoft Certified Trainer) for over 8 years.

When he is not evangelizing Microsoft products, you might find him out running, enjoying a round of golf or online playing Xbox live. Yes Microsoft employees have been known to play games... and help develop some of the best out there. (Hmmm... with Xbox 360 recently unveiled on MTV.. maybe we could get them to talk about that for a bit?)

Bill
SteeleWilliam (Bill) Steele, MCSD, is the Developer Community Champion supporting the Great Lakes district. Bill has more than 15 years of experience as a software developer, working with developers, IT managers and organizations. Prior to joining Microsoft, Bill worked for Regional Consulting Firm, where he developed applications that managed the internal operations of business in areas such as IT service management, transportation logistics and financial management.

Bill was responsible for building integration applications between different ISVs products and the client's IT infrastructure. He also spent more than seven years at StrideRite Corporation in various roles in IT. While there, he honed his development skills in Visual Basic and C++ as well as his IT skills. Bill has been working with Microsoft on various projects since 1992 and continues to prize his Visual Basic 1.0 Beta Thunder Clock. MCP Solution Developer

They are both well versed on a majority of the MS products including development tools, languages, applications, operating systems, database and even games. So seek out those scraps of paper with notes jotted down... search your email for errant messages... ask co-workers and friends... come to the meeting armed with your questions... the guys will do their best to answer them. Questions they cannot answer will be taken back to Microsoft and answers will be found.

This should prove to be a most informative and entertaining evening.
