It's common knowledge that the computer market has been driven hard by the gaming industry. The latest gaming rigs are pushing technology in all directions. Hard core gamers are continually reaching for the fastest processors and cramming motherboards with screaming fast memory. High-end graphics cards are now being paired with physics cards to produce 3D game worlds. Multiple hard drives are Raided for speed. Even the mice are high-res laser.

These aren't your average desktop PCs. At the general meeting you will see a sample of gaming rigs and discuss hardware with a group of DMA gamers who keep up with the latest trends and technologies. SIG members promise a demo of several of the latest PC and Console games. Get tips on tweaking your desktop for peak performance. See which games your “rig” can handle. Learn what it takes to play online or how to use a dedicated game server. See how easy it is to network your home PCs for a little family competition.

The Gaming SIG meets once a month for 24 hours of non-stop competition. Both PC and Console games are supported. They have quickly become our youngest SIG and one of our most active.

All are welcome. The meetings start at 7:30 p.m. Guests are always welcome. Directions are here.

P.S. The room is small, so arrive early for a good seat. We had a full house in January in spite of the bone-chilling cold and new location, and again last month.

Parking

Enter campus via College Park Drive, stop at the guard shack and ask for a free parking pass for the DMA meeting, then enter "P" lot. St. Joseph Hall is next to the Immaculate Conception Chapel.

After the meeting, we'll enjoy food, beverages, and conversation at Marion's Piazza, 711 Shroyer Road, Oakwood. Here's a Google Map.
